Integrating Visual Arts into School Learning
Bowens Creative Academy school photography and content creation workshops are a creative way to enhance your school’s curriculum. Many children have benefited from Bowens creative Academy teaching methods.
Our photography and content creation workshops for schools are not just about teaching great visual arts skills but also encouraging children to stop and take a look at their surroundings, to plan their shot and be creative. All of which are valuable skills that can be used throughout school and beyond.
Each school photography and content creation workshop is designed individually for your school around a chosen theme. Past themes have been environmental, product, advertising, public announcements, narrative, wildlife, still life, action and portrait workshops, how to photograph and film a theatre production and documentary.
What we provide
- A Nikon water/shockproof camera for each child during the workshop (7 to 11 yrs old – up to 30 students)
- A mirrorless DSLR camera for every teenager (12 to 18 yrs old – up to 20 students)
- Teachers who are industry tested professional content creators and photographers.
- A print out of each child’s favourite photograph on-site for student experience and editing tools for the content creators.

- Lots of different activities to provide a fun and action packed session

What you learn
Our schools clubs workshops cover:
- The science behind filming and taking a photograph. Camera mechanics are explained and the students are shown how to use the camera settings effectively.
- The history of film and photography, including looking at the work of famous content creators and photographers.
- Content cration and photography skills based around the chosen theme. This will be the main feature of the workshop with the children doing lots of project based activities, putting their new skills and techniques into practice.
- Each child will pick their favourite shot and clips of the day. (This can be used in further class work, e.g. editin classes, an art project or creative writing)
